"Seeing Eye to Eye"
Transfer monoprint by Alan Singer
2015
Arts Campus
This new blog has been created with my students at Rochester
Institute of Technology in mind – first and foremost. The blog is meant to be a meeting place where my students
can present their artwork and commentary to a much broader international
audience. For students who already
have an online presence this blog will focus on one fact: Art Means
Business! To approach a wider
public, students must be prepared and open to questions with an ability to
respond and act according to best business practices. My role as advisor will be to set the ball in motion and
help organize my art students with tools that will help them succeed.
In the coming weeks we will see examples of student artwork
that may be offered for sale, we will post commentary on that work, and use
this blog as a sounding board for an interested and informed public. We encourage interaction with the
readership, and we appreciate your support.
My contribution to this blog will be as an advisor, and
organizer. Students will also have
a role to provide imagery and commentary.
We use this blog as a testing ground for concepts about art marketing
and much more. Over the past dozen
years I have been the faculty member
from the School of Art who has lead the Business Practices for Fine
Artists class, and this class is for undergrads and grads on the campus of
Rochester Institute of Technology, in Rochester, New York.
Alan Singer reads the artist statement
and
he is a Professor, in the School of Art, Rochester Institute of Technology
